Do you have what it takes to build the best sandcastle in the country? Or maybe you would just like the day out enjoying watching the other teams compete in this year’s National Sandcastle Competition, marvelling at some of the sand creations! This weekend sees the 17th annual UK National Sandcastle Competition, in support of North Devon Hospice.
The competition takes place on Woolacombe Beach, Devon this Sunday 8th July, getting underway at 11.30am when registration opens. To enter, you must be in a team of 6 aged 12 years and older – full details of the day’s events and rules are available here. The competition itself gets underway at 12.30 with 3 hours of digging for you to create your winning sculpture with live music and DJs performing to give you some inspiration and keep you entertained.
After the competition building, there will be a chance to take part in a world record attempt too, as they try to build the most sandcastles in one hour!
The day ends with a beach BBQ for teams and spectators, and after a day of building sandcastles you’re sure to have worked up an appetite!
If you’re staying in Devon this weekend, go along to Woolacombe Beach and enter into the competition, or just go along for a fun day out at the beach and watch the other teams compete.
If you haven’t yet made plans for the weekend but would like to join in the competition and world record attempt, we have last minute availability for 3 night weekend breaks staying at the nearby Ruda Holiday Park, only a 25 minute drive from Woolacombe Beach.
