Between 27-29th July Caerphilly comes to life, as the town hosts the Big Cheese Festival.
Set beneath the imposing shadow of one of the largest castles in Europe, the Caerphilly Big Cheese Festival 2012 promises to be the biggest and best yet, with a line-up that includes street entertainers, history re-enactments, comedy acts, music and dance, a traditional funfair, market stalls and much more besides! The Big Cheese is a real family festival, and attracts visitors from around the UK.
The festival gets underway on Friday 27th July, with the annual ‘Great Cheese Race’ with kids and adults both encouraged to take part in the fun run around the castle and its grounds, in fancy dress. Prizes are up for grabs, not just for the winning team, but also the best dressed! The opening night celebrations culminate in a spectacular and explosive fireworks display.
The Big Cheese is a free event, with no admission charge.
Trecco Bay Holiday Park is located around 30 miles from Caerphilly, just a short 40 minute drive to where the festival takes place at Caerphilly Castle. This is a great free family day out for anyone already staying at Trecco Bay.
