The traditional Dawlish Carnival has been running for over 40 years, and this year’s carnival takes place between 11-18th August. With a week long programme of events, there is sure to be something for everyone enjoying a
summer break on the South Devon coast.
Some of the events taking place at this year’s carnival include ‘Dawlish Has Talent’, Pram and Raft Races, Children’s Fancy Dress and It’s a Knockout games!
The main event of the Dawlish Carnival is the procession, which usually has up to 50 floats plus walking teams, which work their way through the seaside town from their starting point at John Nash Drive. This year’s procession will be on Friday 17th August, starting from 7.30pm.
You will be able to capture some great views of the colourful and noisy procession from various points around the town. The seaside and community atmosphere combine with the fun and colour of the procession and other events throughout the week to create a truly memorable summer carnival.
If you’re already staying in the area during the carnival week, why not spend a day or two in the area checking out some of the events happening throughout the week? Besides the carnival, Dawlish is a beautiful British seaside resort, with stunning countryside on one side and the coastline on the other. If you would like to visit the area during the Carnival week, but don’t yet have any accommodation, Torquay Holiday Park is located only 9 miles away from Dawlish and close to the English Riviera’s main attractions.
